Peran Sosial Media Dalam Relasi Orang Tua Dengan Anak Dewasa Awal

Abstract

Digitalization significantly changes the communication patterns of parents and young adult children. Social media facilitates long-distance connections and presents challenges as tensions between openness, control and privacy. This study aims to explore the dynamics of this communication using Relational Dialectic Theory approach and the concept of Parental Self-Efficacy. The method used is qualitative through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving six informants from parents of children aged 18–25 years. Data were collected through FGD results and documentation which analyzed using the Miles and Huberman method. The results showed that informants tried to technologically adapt with supervision, context and maintaining connectedness. Parental self-efficacy plays an important role in building harmonious relationships while supporting children's independence. This study concludes that digitalization is not an obstacle, but an opportunity to build healthier and more meaningful communication, as long as parents are willing to adapt to technology wisely.
