This study aims to analyze and describe the communication strategies used by individuals with people pleaser tendencies in handling interpersonal conflicts. In the midst of complex interactions that are prone to interpersonal conflict, individuals with people pleaser tendencies face unique challenges in maintaining relationships, often sacrificing themselves for social acceptance which can ultimately trigger psychological and communication imbalances. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with six informants who exhibit people pleaser characteristics accompanied by literature study and observation. Data analysis was carried out through coding techniques, starting from verbatim transcripts of interview results. The findings show that people pleaser communication strategies are influenced by cost and reward calculations based on Social Exchange Theory. Informants bear emotional (stress, loss of identity), social (unbalanced relationships, vulnerable to exploitation), and physical (fatigue) costs. The rewards include social validation, conflict avoidance, and self-esteem reinforcement. In conflict management, people pleasers use Accommodating, Avoiding, Collaborating, Compromising, and Competing styles. These conflict style choices are driven by complex motivations to maintain relationships and avoid pressure. This research emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and assertiveness development for people pleasers in social interactions.
