The 2025 Regional Leaders’ Retreat drew public attention as it involved hundreds of newly elected regional heads and national elites following the regional elections. CNNIndonesia.com, as a mainstream online media outlet, reported the event intensively. This study aims to examine how CNNIndonesia.com framed this symbolic political event through specific framing strategies. The approach used is Pan and Kosicki’s framing analysis model, which consists of four structural elements: syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical. This research is qualitative and descriptive in nature, using five selected news articles published between 21–28 February 2025 as data sources. The findings reveal that CNNIndonesia.com positioned the central government and political elites as the dominant subjects in its news narratives. Symbols of power—such as the sunset parade, the presence of the President, Vice President, and senior figures—were highlighted visually and textually to reinforce political legitimacy. No alternative narratives or critical voices from regional actors were presented. Framing was carried out through word choice, information structure, and the reinforcement of the national synergy theme. In conclusion, the media did not merely report the event but actively constructed political meaning that supported the image of centralized power during the post-election government transition.
