The evolution of digital media has transformed how we construct and present diverse realities, including sports, through audiovisual documentaries that articulate not only matches but also narratives. Drive to Survive Season 7 frames Formula 1 as more than a competition, revealing the intricate dynamics of driver and team relationships and rivalries, constructed via visual and verbal cues. This study analyzes the representation of rivalry in Formula 1 within Drive to Survive Season 7 using Roland Barthes's semiotic framework. Employing a qualitative approach, data is collected through scene observation, documentation, and literature review, focusing on portrayals of rivalry. Analysis unfolds through Barthes's three stages: denotation, connotation, and myth. Findings reveal that rivalry is depicted through character expressions, dialogue, gestures, cinematography, and editing, which mold viewers' perceptions of competitive interactions. Rivalry is shown as both competition and emotional connection, vital to Formula 1's allure in digital media. The research highlights the media's influence in shaping audience perception and interpretation of sport.
